While reading a book, I was inspired to create this fabulous scene in 3D. Leo has created a fantastic composition and I wanted to use all of the knowledge I’ve gained over the years with modelling, texturing, lighting, rendering and compositing in Blender to try and recreate a “flat” 3D character.
Originally I went in with trying to create just a single knight, Knight 2. But as I applied SubSurface Scattering, hair and a light in the scene, I was pretty sold on making the entire scene.
Honestly I would love to explore this further and do the whole book. Timmers plays with light and shape in such a way that makes me want to try and recreated it in 3D.
I had a great time playing with this project! Especially learning how to create after-render composition changes inside of Blender and not Photoshop. During the process, I knew that this was going to be created "for camera" - So I could get away with a lot more
